1 Tantrum Thursday

Today I have a bit of a Tantrum, but not a very big one.  Why is it that schools in Florida (where I live) have weather days, but those in the north do not?  Growing up in Northern California we never had weather days!?!?!  I am not sure how we did it, but there were a couple of years where the school had to actually be closed for a day and we all survived!     Here in Florida we get soooooo many days off for this and that, early release days every other week and even the 'once-a-month' teacher planning day.  Now, I am not saying that having these days off isn't good, and that we find lots of things to do on those days off, but.....  how is it that Florida can schedule weather days and the schools up North are already talking about a week of extra school because of the bad weather closing the schools?  I should think that up north the schools would be used to closing - at least once a year - for bad weather and just add that in with the regular days and it all would work out.  Right?

Every morning it seems that I turn on the TV and find out that another school is closed (OK, I get that) and that they are going to have to make it up at the end of the year (that is what I don't get) !!

How do you feel about this???  Am I the only one that things a little bit better planning should take place?

And with that note, here is our featured artist.... Plastic Pumpkin does some of the most beautiful Original Chinese brush paintings I have ever seen.  Ren Adams is truly a wonderful artist.

Please go check out the studio,
and the wonderful other works of art.

Enjoy your snow, try not to throw a TANTRUM today and make your life good!  ~KM

  1. I don't understand it because I was in school in the snow and ice and rarely got a day off...that was in Germany a thousand years ago...who knows what goes on in the school board members heads anymore.

I guess you can ask when they have their next PTA meeting why they are doing those things. I bet the kids are glad not having to go to school, right? I
