Today I would like to throw a Tantrum.  I have been shopping lately for our holiday gifts, and boy, what an experience.  I know that this is the season is for giving, but it sure doesn't seem like people are feeling that way.  Everyone seems to be short on money, temper and patience.  There are always going to be those who 'cut' in line or try to 'cheat' to get a better deal, but the people I am talking about are the GRINCH'S of the season.
Somehow people - as a whole - don't like to talk to other people anymore.  I have been in so many lines where just a casual comment or a 'hello' gets responded to like I am 'breaking into their bubble' of space.
I am finding it harder and harder to 'love thy neighbor' when my neighbors give me dirty looks in line.  I am just wondering what would make all these people so unhappy when there is so much joy in the world?  Just thinking about how lucky we are - even if we are broke - and how wonderful our lives are in the United States......I just don't understand why we have to be rude to each other too!
For me, even on my bad days my are met with smiles and sunshine, so remember, when you are in line or in a crowd...say or do something nice to a stranger - you never know what that will do for THEIR day.

Today's featured artist is; KevsKrafts.  This amazing artist is much like many of us that had a life of raising kids and keeping up with the family, and then took to crafts.  His dad started him with a skill saw when he was young and once he pulled it out of storage again it took on a life of its own.  And now with family and friend encouraging him, he has made these amazing creations for us to buy.  Remember, always support handmade artist when you can!

Tantrum Thursday

WORK SPACE

actually

MY

workspace!

Yes, I am throwing a Tantrum today about myself!!  I have been so busy lately that my life seems to have taken over my beading (how dare it)!!  I just HAVE to bead everyday, and NO, it is not just because I am obsessed (but I am)!!!  At any given moment I usually have 2-3 custom orders or 'special' orders (personal gifts from me to someone) being worked on!  Then I am also trying to add at least one item to my studio each day!

Because of all of this I have been VERY lax in putting things away!  These are photos of my working desk in my 'bead room' - it is really the front part of my bedroom.  My desk isn't usually this bad, I have been making piles on it when I don't have time to put something away.  For me, THIS IS BAD!!  I have a tendency to pile, and pile and pile.....I think I am a MINI hoarder!  Oh my gosh, that was hard to say!

These photos are of my bead tray in the living room.  The bottom is on a WALKER frame, so it rolls!  The tray was custom made for me - by my dad - for my beading.  I usually keep this try MUCH neater than it is, but that is because I clean up in between creations and then PILE the leftovers on my BIG DESK (above).

For me there are two REALLY exciting parts to making jewelry.  The first is when about 10 rows is done and I can visualize what it will look like finished and that moment when I put it down and say - IT IS DONE!  Many of my creations take daySSSS to make, so when I get done I am anxious to start a new one!

I know this is not just ME, I know that MANY crafters and artist are like this...... but it IS ME!  Today, my TANTRUM is about ME and FOR ME and that also makes me mad!  OK, so what am I going to do?  CLEAN UP!

For all of my fan's and followers, please HOLD ME TO IT!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is done!!  Here is today's listing!! My finished OWL BAG!!!
And here is a slide show to show you the whole process in one spot!  If you are viewing this post in a READER you may NOT be able to see the slide show!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Today I have to feature this great ArtFire studio, essensu holistic skincare.  Ms. Tami has some amazing items and not only do they get you 'CLEAN', they also are able to nurture our skin, which in turn nurtures our body with their products.  Although this one is for your pet, their line will cover all of those in your home!  All her items are packaged and labeled with simple and clear labels.  Please go check out one of her sites (there are more listed below the photo) and remember to let her know where you found out about her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once more there will be no HOPS today.  I have so many things to get ready for school and to catch up on that I do not have the time to WORK them.  I will though, I'll  be BACK at it soon!
As I am getting my daughter ready for her first (orientation) day of Middle school I am reminded of how quickly time has gone!  For today, please send your love to someone that has GOWN UP without you even realizing it!!  ~KM
Tantrum Thursday 5/31/12
Today I want to show off something that was hand made for ME, buy my Monster.  This is my dragonfly!  In Art Club they were given a project to make a butterfly, however (I found out from the art teacher) my Monster spoke up and said;
My Mom doesn't like butterflies, she likes dragonflies, I want to make a dragonfly!
So, the wings were turned around and he got to work.  This is several weeks worth of work.  There are patterns stamped into the pieces (including 2 for the eyes) and then they were painted - by hand of course and then fired and put together.  I am just so amazed at my Monsters talent!   So this, will be going up on our wall, right next to a family photo!!
I also would like to show off one of my creations.  This beautiful Cloisonne centerpiece is another find from my Grandmother's Stash.  I have no idea how old it is, but it is just beautiful.  Right along with the beauty is the fact that it is also hollow, so it is VERY light.  There are two sides, and they are beaded a little differently so that there are two 'looks'.  Please click on the photo and look at the last 2 photos on the listing to see the difference in the sides.  ENJOY!
And now, I just have to show off this amazing painting from my BEST friend - Amber @ Amber's Art Alley.    Here talent always amazed me.  She is self taught and a NATURAL painter.  Please check out her studio, she has some beautiful creations (she even does custom painted piggy banks)!!
As you go through your day today, remember to smile and you might just 'infect' someone with that smile!  Wouldn't that be wonderful?  It just might spread - like an epidemic!
Good Morning everyone.  I hope that you have had a busy - creative - week.  Life here, as you know, has been busy and doesn't seem to want to slow down!  Yesterday I was able to bead, and life was good!  But then.... life got in the way! I have to say that since I started beading full time I have been VERY lucky to be able to stay home and make this more than a hobby/craft, for me, it is a business.
Most people that I talk to say that TIME MANAGEMENT is the biggest enemy of people that work at home.  I AGREE! When I am at home it is hard not to do the laundry, dishes or sweep the floor while I am 'supposed' to be beading.  So, what do I do?  BOTH! I know, I know, you are not supposed to, but....
For me, my morning (before the house is woken up) is spent getting most of my computer work done.  This includes updating all my sites, posting photos, doing my blog and so much more!  Then it is 'off to the races' with the kids, morning routine and school runs.
As the day really get going I spend some time on house work, get caught up (or at least I try) and then it is off to bead!  FINALLY.  However, this is the perfect day.... life is NOT perfect!  There are errands to run, laundry to fold, a dog to walk, and that is just the basic stuff!  I have to say, as much as I love working at home, there are some advantages to 'going into the office' to work.
Whenever we move and I have a dedicated CRAFT room I will also have a door and I'll be able to close it!!  Yes, I know, that is not the 'fix all', but it might help!
What do you do?  How do you stay true to your craft?  How do you manage your time?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I started a new bead woven creation yesterday, what do you think?

This will be VERONICA!

Today's featured artist is CraftsmanLife.  This amazing wood worker has developed his skills over the years into perfection! You need to see these works of art for yourself.  I have to say that the simple lines and fine quality really attracted me to this studio.  Please go visit, check out all the wonderful creations and remember to support hand crafted artists.
