10 Tantalizing Tuesday 11/12/13 (Fair Awards and Workign Photos)

Oh my, what a great day yesterday was!!  I was able to bead and enjoy the morning and then in the afternoon we loaded everyone up and headed to the Greater Jacksonville Agricultural Fair!!  What fun we had.  My mother-in-law and I went around and saw the exhibits and great displays, hubby took the kids to the rides and 'played' for hours!  I was able to take photos of my entries.... want to see?  

Most of my enteries were put into the same display - but they were in different categories!!

I am not sure if I will continue to do a featured artist.  I recently have been very burned by (not just one, but two) of my featured artists.  One I had to actually file a claim through PayPal and get my money back when I purchased something from them.  I don't always purchase from my featured artists, but sometimes I find things I just can't do without!  

I have been doing this to expose my followers to other peoples art/crafts and to help those other artists get some exposure.  I always notify the artist that they are featured and send them the links, however most of the time only about 1 out of every 7 even say thank you.  Now, I don't expect much, but I would really 'put it out there' if someone featured me and say thank you a 'whole' bunch!!!  

So, with all that being said, this week there will not be any featured artist and I am contiplating doing something a little different in its place.  Your imput/suggestions on this subject would be greatly appreciated!

4 Manic Monday 11/11/13 (Veteran's Day and Angry Birds)

Today is Veteran's Day in the United States!  For myself it is a very meaningful day!!  When I spoke with my son the other day I told him that we are a Military Family and he asked me - why.  It took me a moment, but then I said; Because your dad is in the military and so was I.  

And so then he said.... anyone else?  

So I started listing....

Your 1/2 brother - Army

Mom - Navy

Dad - Army / Florida Army National Guard

Grandparents - 1 Navy 1 Army

Great Grandparents - 5 Past Military

Great Aunts/Uncles - 9 Past Military ( I think)

And my son said.... but what does that mean?  

This question really kind of shocked me.  We live our lives as a Military Family - often going on the base, going to National Guard Drill weekends and the kids attend many Military Camps, so I wasn't sure what to say.  So, here is what I came up with......

You are surrounded by people who believed in their country enough to choose to serve in the Military and defend our country against all those who wish to do it harm.  We support the president (even if our believes are different) because he is the elected president.  And we help anyone who we can - when we can - to support all the people of our country make it better.

He said, that's what I thought, Mom!  I think I'll go into the Army like Dad!

And I beamed with a smile a mile wide!!

Happy Veteran's Day to all those that serve, live with those that have served or have ever loved someone that has served!

2 Fabulous Friday 11/11/11

Today has special meaning for our family, I come FROM a military family, I SERVED in the military,  and I am married to someone in the military.  I thought - since my children love when I do this - I would list all my family and their service - only a couple of generations back!
