4 Manic Monday 11/11/13 (Veteran's Day and Angry Birds)

Today is Veteran's Day in the United States!  For myself it is a very meaningful day!!  When I spoke with my son the other day I told him that we are a Military Family and he asked me - why.  It took me a moment, but then I said; Because your dad is in the military and so was I.  

And so then he said.... anyone else?  

So I started listing....

Your 1/2 brother - Army

Mom - Navy

Dad - Army / Florida Army National Guard

Grandparents - 1 Navy 1 Army

Great Grandparents - 5 Past Military

Great Aunts/Uncles - 9 Past Military ( I think)

And my son said.... but what does that mean?  

This question really kind of shocked me.  We live our lives as a Military Family - often going on the base, going to National Guard Drill weekends and the kids attend many Military Camps, so I wasn't sure what to say.  So, here is what I came up with......

You are surrounded by people who believed in their country enough to choose to serve in the Military and defend our country against all those who wish to do it harm.  We support the president (even if our believes are different) because he is the elected president.  And we help anyone who we can - when we can - to support all the people of our country make it better.

He said, that's what I thought, Mom!  I think I'll go into the Army like Dad!

And I beamed with a smile a mile wide!!
