I have to tell you that living with a child who has mental 'issues' is sometimes very hard. People on the outside - including family - look at him and say 'he looks normal' or they think that we should treat him 'like normal'. First off, I have never really liked 'normal', but there is something to say for trying to raise your children the way you were raised and then being told that it is all wrong - for this child only. Monster has his own rhythm and beat to life and although his looks like every other 8 year old on the outside there is a little boy that struggles with EVERYTHING on the inside!
That being said, let me just say that many times in my day there are WACKY moments in my life - and most of them are due to Monster and his love of life!!

Today's featured artist is: birdhousesbymark. As docent at the Tulsa Zoo, this talented artist found that many retail bird houses were just for decoration, not for the 'birds'! So, he, like many of us, took his passion and turned it into a business. Now that he is 'retired', he creates his bird houses full time along side his wife who makes handmade soap and lotions. Together they run a retail store and go to local markets and events!! Talk about living the 'crafters' dream!! Remember when you go look that it is YOUR support that makes our passions possible!!

People just don't realize before they open their mouth to speak that we each have our own journey in life. Nothing is right and nothing is wrong; you just do the best you can with what you've been given!

Personally, I think kids like your Monster have a leg up on most people when it comes to their outlook. They might have 'issues' but they're closer to the meaning of life than most and that's a gift.
