  Tantrum Thursday

Today's tantrum is about TOYS!

Yes, toys - broken TOYS.  

 

When I was little I didn't have many toys, but that was OK.  Most of my time was spent outside with the animals and tree forts (yes,I was a tomboy).  But the few toys I did have were WELL MADE and several were hand-me-downs.

Now in my Monster's time there is a BIG difference.  Most of the time his toys are package better than the toy is made!  There have been so many toys that barely make it a day or two without SOMETHING breaking.  If some of these toys make it a month we are really lucky.  

I have invested in 'super glue', just to keep Monster's toys in good repair.  I have glued tires back on, wings of plains and even action figures back together.  Now, please do not get me wrong, there are some toys that are REALLY well made and some that Monster plays with that are handed down from my childhood to Monster.  

What are your experiences?  Do your kids break everything?  I know that more expensive toys don't actually mean better quality, but is there one brand you prefer over another?

Tantrum Thursday

Today's TANTRUM THURSDAY is very related to yesterday's!!  I really didn't mean to RANT so much yesterday, but sometimes when I get up on that SOAP BOX I just can't seems to find my way down!?!

One of the things that I did find out in all of AYE's classes is that there is not enough books for each kid in the class.  In Aye's school we are very lucky that they are able to get a 'digital' copy of the books, however, most school aren't that lucky.  We are also lucky enough to be able to let Aye use a computer in her room.  The fact is that with all the budget cuts we have lost the buses to our school, lost more and more students (because of the buses being gone), more teachers and also our books for the class.  HOW in the world do they expect out teachers to be able to teach.

Did I also tell you that they have lost the funding for ALL the after school clubs and groups?  That teachers are only allowed X about of copies per month and they have to provide their own paper?  I just don't understand.  I can't seem to figure out how they expect our kids to make a difference in this world if we can't even provide them the supplies to do it with.

I now that this is a common problem in MANY school districts. 

I know that this is something that is faced every day by teachers and school staff. 

I also know that this is WRONG! 

What do we NEED to do to fix this? 

What CAN we do??

I just don't understand, my father was a teacher and even back then it WAS getting bad, but now???

4 Tantrun Thursday 12/27/12

I just can't throw a Tantrum today, there is just to much to be happy about!!  My life is starting to get back to normal - after all the holiday fun - but only starting!!  I am so lucky to still have my best friend and her family with us... it had been to long since our last visit!!  It is hard to have someone who is so much a part of your life live so far away!!  I just can't think about when she'll be heading home!!

I am, back to beading though!!  I started a project yesterday that seems to be going well.... I really love the earthy look to this stone!  And I am hoping that the BLUE beads just make it POP!  Here is where I go to yesterday....

Tantrum Thursday 12/22/11

It is odd, but the closer we get to Christmas the closer we get to a metal breakdown! Know I know that not everyone has 'issues' around the holiday, but for the most of us there are

meals to cook

presents to buy

presents to wrap

houses to clean

kids to entertain

family to entertain

lights to 'plug in'

and so much more.

For those of you who have everything under control, good for you - you are my inspiration.  For the rest of us, I have to say - take a breath!!!  I have had to go out several times over the last few days and with a rare exceptionn people are RUDE, MEAN and UNHAPPY!  What happened?  I thought that this was the time for the holidays.  Time to FORGIVE.  Time to be HAPPY and surrounded by friends and family.   Instead it seems to be the time to FIGHT;  CUT in line and generally be in a BAD MOOD!

I would like to remind everyone what the holiday is about - PEACE and HAPPINESS.  No matter what your religion or beliefs this is supposed to be the one time of year that we all GET A LONG!  So for all of you RUDE and MEAN and UNHAPPY people out there - EAT SOME CHOCOLATE or something..... just get into a better mood and stop being so SELF CENTERED - we all have

meals to cook

presents to buy

presents to wrap

houses to clean

kids to entertain

family to entertain

lights to 'plug in'

and so much more

2 Tantrum Thursday 12/20/12

I actually have a tantrum I would like to write today, however, I think I will wait.  With all the violence that happened in Newtown, I personally thank that it is to soon to talk about it.  For me, it is something that will have to 'sink in' for a while before I really get past the shock of what happened.  I send my kids off - just like most of you - to school everyday thinking that the worst that will happen is they will get bullied.... this really makes you pause and be thankful for what you have.

One that note I have started my auction.  I am very hopeful of getting a great final bid for this bracelet.  All of the proceeds will be going to a survivors fund from the tragedy in Newtown.
