6 Tantrum Thursday 3/8/12

Since I haven't thrown a tantrum in a while I thought I would throw one about something that is very personal and close to home.  Two days ago there was a shooting at a local school, and it was the most horrible thing.  You can read more about it HERE.  But, what I want to talk about today is the violence that our children are exposed to.

I understand that the news needs to be 'dramatic' in order to get us to watch 'their channel', but there has to be a line - somewhere.  It is one thing for me screen the shows that my children watch.  But it is getting harder and harder for me to even watch the news.  They don't even just talk about the violence, they SHOW it.  And the little warning... this video may be hard to watch... (2 seconds before) just doesn't do it.

From showing Micheal Jackson's naked body from autopsy photos to showing the carnage of a car accident I just don't understand why it is necessary.  Why is it so surprising when our young people take violence into their own hands when we expose them to violence every day?

I can not even think to to understand what that young man was thinking when he came in and killed the administrator and then himself, but I have to wonder, with all the violence in our home via TV, Radio, Movies and even Internet, why are we always so surprised?

No matter what my plans were, my beading tray stayed where it was today.  I am not sure what went wrong, maybe it was just LIFE, but I didn't get to bead like I planned.  I'll tell you what, this 'life' thing sure is getting me in trouble with my 'beading thing'.  :)))

I was able to get photos of this bracelet I finished the other day though, for all of you that like purple, this one is for you!!

  3. I barely have the television on anymore around my son. He watches cartoons on Netflix but there isn't any channel flipping to see the wrong thing. You can almost watch the news and see what you see on CSI or something. He has asked me, "Mom is that real or fake?" I don't want to tell him that the news is fake but I don't want him to have nightmares about the bad stuff. :-(

I completely agree about the violence-I just don't watch the news anymore because it's so DEPRESSING! How can a person not get depressed watching everything!?

Thank you as always for this wonderful giveaway! :)
