This morning I woke up with a wonderful attitude. Don't get me wrong, most mornings I was up very inspired and ready to go, but this morning was just a little bit more! So, here is what I have come up with.

Tantrum Thursday 2/9/12

Good Morning everyone. I hope that you have had a busy - creative - week. Life here, as you know, has been busy and doesn't seem to want to slow down! Yesterday I was able to bead, and life was good! But then.... life got in the way! I have to say that since I started beading full time I have been VERY lucky to be able to stay home and make this more than a hobby/craft, for me, it is a business.

Most people that I talk to say that TIME MANAGEMENT is the biggest enemy of people that work at home. I AGREE! When I am at home it is hard not to do the laundry, dishes or sweep the floor while I am 'supposed' to be beading. So, what do I do? BOTH! I know, I know, you are not supposed to, but....

For me, my morning (before the house is woken up) is spent getting most of my computer work done. This includes updating all my sites, posting photos, doing my blog and so much more! Then it is 'off to the races' with the kids, morning routine and school runs.

As the day really get going I spend some time on house work, get caught up (or at least I try) and then it is off to bead! FINALLY. However, this is the perfect day.... life is NOT perfect! There are errands to run, laundry to fold, a dog to walk, and that is just the basic stuff! I have to say, as much as I love working at home, there are some advantages to 'going into the office' to work.

Whenever we move and I have a dedicated CRAFT room I will also have a door and I'll be able to close it!! Yes, I know, that is not the 'fix all', but it might help!

What do you do? How do you stay true to your craft? How do you manage your time?

So yesterday I think that I actually got caught up.

I know that I didn't get any help from our dog, Ziggy...

My daughter took these photos. They were after I folded and put UP the blankets that we use on the couch. I guess he wasn't too happy that we took away his 'spot'!!

So, Yesterday I talked about how busy my weekend was, well, it has carried over to today too! I am so far behind in LIFE, BEADS and ALL that 'good stuff' that I am going to make another SHORT post today.

What a weekend!! I can not tell you all the things that happened, but I can tell you that I had fun, was exhausted and worked like crazy! Oh ya, and there were NO beads involved!! WOW!

But I was able to finish this set to list in my studio.... I like this one, it is a nice bright color and has a wonderful hidden saying under the sun!

What a Fabulous Friday this is! I have been working on some new creations this week - nothing is finished yet - and busy with life. So, unfortunately I do not have a new creation for you to look at. I'll show off something I finished a little while ago, just because I love it!

I know that some of us will be having storms and snow this weekend, but for us here in Florida it will be sunny and warm. It is really hard to think about winter when the weather is already set for spring. I have been in the cleaning and 'organizing' mode over the past week or so because of the 'spring cleaning' bug that bit me. What does this mean? Well, I have found a LOT of new things to list in my DESTASH studio. I hope to start next week. I also have LOTS more books/magazines that need listing... anyone want to help? I can pay you in craft supplies!! :) So, for any of you that watch my DESTASH studio.... watch out!!

Tantrum Thursday 2/2/12

Today's tantrum is very personal, it is about Manners. Yes, that 'thing' that only the 'old people have'! I know that WE have come a long way from the time of 'pen and ink' style of writing, but I am not sure why we have lost our manners too. With all this great new technology you would think it would be easier to say THANK YOU or PLEASE. Instead I find that many people I run into don't even remember what those words are for.

I try very hard to respond to all my emails, all my comments and all those who 'favorite' me. I know that with all the HOPS I do I also find people who just don't know how/what to do when someone is polite and actually says thank you.

I still write letters - YES, real one's with a pen and paper. I still send birthday cards - YES, in the mail. I still find that I am excited when I get a card or note from a friend. So why would I stop? Has the OMG and TTYL world trained us so well that we forgot the TY and Welcome (I don't even know if there is one for welcome). Trust me, I TEXT, EMAIL, and MESSAGE, right along with the best of them. But I also say THANK YOU and I also respond when I am asked a question - even if it is via email!

What do you think? Do you still use manners? Do you find that others do too? If you don't, maybe we should start an OCCUPY movement to bring the words, THANK YOU, PLEASE and YOU ARE WELCOME back into our worlds..... I think it would make us happier!

Wonderful Wednesday 2/1/12

Oh my, it has been a busy week. I know, I know, it is only Wednesday, but for me the week and weekend sometimes blur! This is one of those 'sometimes'!! I still had a little time last night to bead... just enough to keep my sanity! Here is my newest creation... what do you think??

Yesterday we spend with my beads....aaauuuuwwww! My life seems to get busier and busier and somehow this means my beads get neglected. In turn that means that I am less relaxed. I know that for many people they look at the 'little' beads I use and think how stressful and complicated it would be to put them together into a design or creation. For me, though, they are relaxing. When I start working on them my mind has to consentrate on the beads and they way they are put together. They actually CAUSE me to relax and enjoy my creation.

Here is my newest... this little key chain / photo album was so fun to make. I can see someone carring this around with a photo of their sweetheart or their family in it.

What a Marvelous Monday it is! Over the past weekend I actually got caught up with my life! YEP!! I was able to do some beading, some cleaning and even had a dinner out for Hubby for his Birthday!

So what did I do for the beading part? Oh, you will love some of the new designs. This is the first one, it is ALL green, but soooo sparle'ly!! This is one of those sets that you can wear with your business suit or with jeans. I love sets that can be used fro dress up or dress down. What do you think?

Tantrum Thursday 1/26/12

Today I am going to do things a little different.

I have thrown plenty of tantrums over the past few days. So today I am going to show you some things that inspire me personally and my jewelry creations (both in color and design).

First there is the Ruby. I am not sure why I have always been attracted to Ruby's, but since I was a child I have always thought that they were one of the BEST gemstones.

Second inspiration I have to say is the forest. I grew up in the foothills of Northern California and we were surrounded by beautiful trees and forests. Because the tree's grew so tall the would block out most of the sunlight to the ground. This caused there to be little to no ground brush. I walked through trails that looked like this almost every day. Even when I was young their beauty never escaped me. For me, this is a look at my past and the beauty around it!

Then there is the dragonfly. As most of you know I am drawn to them in my art and also in my life. In some Native American tribes they represent swiftness and activity. In Japan dragonflies are symbols of courage, strength, and happiness, and they often appear in art and literature. The Japanese love for dragonflies is reflected in the fact that there are traditional names for almost all of the 200 species of dragonflies found in and around Japan.

For me it has always been a love of their beauty and strength. I spent many of my childhood days watching the dragonflies clutter around the creek!

There is one more thing that I draw much of my inspiration from. Elizabethan Clothing has always intrigued me. Although I know that their outfits were 'nasty' and uncomfortable they were beautiful. The detail that was given to every layer was amazing. They even designed clothing to layer in a way that would 'reveal' other layers. Often when I am designing some of my necklaces I think about how it would go with an outfit from that time.

And on the note of inspiration I have to say that one of my biggest is my friends and family. Over the years I have been graced with a large amount of followers and fans that are even more creative than I am. I have learned to watch and learn from their creations. I love watching the different mediums come to life under the watchful eye of their creator.

Wonderful Wednesday 1/25/12

Many of you saw the photo of my little Monster on my fan page last night, but for those of you who didn't, here is Monster and his black eye!

YEP, my wonderful kids were playing outside and Aye was sitting on a concrete wall when she started to slip.....then when she swung her foot out to save herself (in cowboy boots - of course).... Monster's face happened to be in the way!! Here it is, the result! I have to tell you that 2012 has not been very nice to our family yet.... let's get this NEW YEAR under the way the RIGHT WAY!!

What a Terrific Tuesday this is!! Yesterday I did a separate post for my 5th-bead-soup-blog-party adventure. You can see the beads I received and my timeline on the above link. I have to say, I am VERY excited!! The collection of beads and Crystals are just beautiful! I have already started forming some designs in my head. I'll post more photos as I go along, but I can NOT post the final set until the big reveal and hop on March 3rd!

On Saturday Monster had his 'official' birthday party. Although I took LOTS of photos I really can't post them because the party was at Chuck E. Even on a weekend - on his way out to lunch with his family - to make sure everything was working good. Today's tantrum is simple

TV Ads!

Yes, I know, there isn't much to say about them - we all hate them! But the things that I find interesting is how they have become something more. People complain all the time about how the 'barbie' image hurts girls self esteem, but I have not heard people complain about how companies teach bulling and really bad morals. Why are people not complaining about that?

When I was a kid there was this law/rule that my dad used to tell me about that advertisers couldn't talk about their competitors in their commercials. They couldn't use their logos or even their food to 'discreadit' their competition. Now most of the FAST FOOD ads that I see have at least one of their competitors characters or logos in them and they are basically bulling their competition. Many of the commercials have degrading things to say about each other and their products. How is it that we have gone so far as to say that degrading each other is OK?

Think about how many commercials our kids watch. Not just the one's on Saturday morning cartoons, but throughout the day. Even during the news it become a 'war' of the companies as one after another fight, degrade and bully each other.

What message is that telling out kids?

I honestly find most of the commercial that are on the TV offensive and in very bad taste, what about you?

And political commercials....oh, that is a tantrum for another day!

I know, I know, I have shown off my little Monster enough, but I just can't help but to show you a couple more! Although yesterday was his birthday his party will not be until Saturday. We allowed him to open ONE of his presents - from Mom and Dad - so that his day was special.

Yes, it is a DS game - Lego Star Wars to be exact! It is one that he had wanted since before he even had a DS!! As you can see, he has been perfecting his charm and his hearts!! Did I tell you that his 3 invites for school friends were to GIRLS... oh no, not yet!!!!

Today is my baby - Monster's - 7th birthday! It is also his first day back to school in over a week and he is so excited. We have been talking about his birthday it seems like forever! When he go the Chicken Pox we weren't sure if there would be a party or not! Well, he has been cleared by the doc, and off to school he goes today - so party we will (but not until Saturday)!!! It is so hard to believe that it has been seven years!!

Today we honor

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Aye and I were very lucky to have a student who's aunt worked on this project when we went to Washington DC last summer. Our group of kids and adults (about 45) were able to put on hard hats and actually walk the memorial ground about 2 months before it was even opened. We were NOT allowed to take photos, but our memories are strong. The amazing man and his assistant who actually carved this memorial were there working on it when we were there. For me, this was one of the most amazing parts of the trip. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, is so much a part of our modern history that is seems almost more real to me....

Over the past month I have been so busy with 'life'! First we had winter vacation and Aye's birthday, then of course Christmas and New Years. Near the end I was a bit sick, so I didn't enjoy the time as much as I could have. Then once the kids got back to school we only had a few days to catch our breath before Monster started showing signs of the Chicken Pox.....needless to say it has been about 45 days without either one (or both) kids at home and where NO ONE was sick! I needed to get out of the house! So, my mom-in-law and I decided to 'go off for the day'.

Now, let me tell you, I didn't know anything more about this show than that it was about nuns and it was a musical comedy. So going in I really wasn't sure what to expect. For me, it is just a afternoon out of the house with another adult that wasn't sick!!

NOW, let me tell you what we received! The lunch was amazing!! I had the Parmesan Crusted Salmon and my mom-in-law had the Steak dinner. OMG! I can not tell you how good that Salmon was! And I was able to taste her steak... WOW!! Then there was the show!

This show was the funniest thing I have seen in forever!! The 'nuns' really made fun of themselves, but I thought it was all done with great taste. I was laughing so hard at one point that I had to take off my glasses and use my napkin for my eyes!!! IT WAS HELERIOUS!!!

If you are anywhere near the Jacksonville area and you can take the time, I would say go have a wonderful meal and a more than a few 'belly' laughs!! The show only has a few weeks to go!

My daughter is once again on the honor roll. I am so very proud her. I try to do something special for her each time and often it is something either I have made or I have ordered from one of my great crafting friends. This little skateboarder was custom made by Magnolia Surprise. She and I have been friends via our crafts and the Internet for quite some time and when she put a photo of a little gal on her skateboard up I knew I had to have one for Aye. My daughter has skates, TWO skateboards and also a Rip Stick... you can tell what she likes to do outside!! When we (Aye and I) were trying to think of a wonderful name (we name everything) for this little gal we came up with:

Tantrum Thursday 1/12/11

Is it really Tantrum Thursday already? Yes, I guess it is. What can I say, I have to keep track of the days that I get to throw these tantrums. Someone asked me a couple of weeks ago if I ONLY throw them on Thursday..... well, no! I just save the best one's for you on Thursday! :)

So today I want to talk about Chicken Pox. Yes, that is right, Chicken Pox. I know that there is not much I can do about it, but I really want to rant for a while. My wonderful Monster is having such a hard time with them.... not really with the Chicken Pox, but with the being confined! I love my son and he is the light of my life, but trying to keep an ADHD - 6 year old confined in the house and away from the rest of the family for 5-7 days.... O. M. G..

Yesterday we came head to head with the 'real issue' for him here is how it was....

He says, in his nicest - with a puppy dog face - voice

"But mommmmm, I am not sick, can I please go outside?"

OMG!!

This is sooo hard on him (and me) to deal with this. He really doesn't like playing alone or in the house, so this is just torture to him.

The good news.... he is just about over his confinement.... we just got clearance from his doctor to go back to school on Tuesday (Monday is a holiday) and guess what, Tuesday is his birthday!!!! YA HOOOOO Happy Birthday to MEEE, oh, I mean to him!! :)

Yesterday I was able to do some beading, but mostly I was entertaining my little Monster. He is already SOOOOO bored and sick of being in the house away from people.

But my day got much better when I checked the mail. I received two wonderful packages! The first one held all these great bookmarks and an amazing Celtic Knot book thong made by Stupid-Shiny-Designs. The colors and design is wonderful!

Then I also had a package from Poly's Pleasures Chainmail. This package included a great bracelet - black and red and a SIGNED bookmark with Chainmail on it for the book Becoming sage.

So, it was a GOOOOOOD day indeed!! Both these prizes were won through the wonderful gals at Reading with Bakin Goddess. If you want to have some fun, read some great reviews and find out about some amazing authors, this is the site for you. We also will be working on giving away those bookmarks I made - remember??

What a weekend! I actually beaded - A LOT!! Yep, it was a GOOD weekend! On Saturday the kids and I went out to hubby Florida National Guard Drill Weekend to help with paperwork and get to know some of the new soldiers. It is such a great group of soldiers!

Then it was back home to clean and get the house together so that I could bead. Yep, I beaded, I really did! And here is one of the things I was working on.....

I also finished my necklace set that I had been working on last week. This necklace set has been named Maggie. Again, I am not sure where I came up with that name. I really didn't TRY to think of it, it just popped into my head while I was working on it and wouldn't leave. I think it fits, too. This does look like a Maggie! What do you think? Fabulous Friday 1/6/12

Today is truly a fabulous day! First I need to tell you what happened yesterday morning at the Apple store (you can read my tantrum from yesterday to understand more). I had an appointment at 9am and let me tell you by 9am the store had about 12 workers and maybe 30 people. Now after some questioning these 30 people were there for a number of reasons. First reason - training. Yes, Apple stores offer FREE training on how to use all your AMAZING products. Second reason - like me, warranty or problems with their toys. Now, let me make a comment to you all, the store doesn't open until 10am!! Yep, this was all happening at least an hour before the store opened!

By 910 I was being helped by a wonderful genius bar employee. My phone was quickly determined to be broken. My genius quickly got a NEW phone, transferred all my info and even replaced my screen protector with a new one on my new phone. The whole thing took about 20 minutes and ALL my 'little questions' were answered too! YEP, harmless! So, I can see that the Apple store is VERY busy, but very efficient. They have all the appointments for a reason. This has re-installed my love of my iPhone and other Apple products!

OK, so it is already the 5th of the year. With only 5 days to work with, what can I throw a tantrum about?

Well, well, well, yesterday I had to visit an APPLE Store!

If any of you have ever been in an Apple Store you will understand, because I am told that this is the way it is at ALL the stores all the time. The old adage of

'How many people can you fit in a phone booth'

kept coming to mind!

Of course I had to go at the most inopportune time. Their COMPUTERS were down...WHAT?? YEP, the computer that is used to register in people (just the first step in the process) was not working. They were WRITING DOWN A LIST! OMG! I do not think that this is the way to instill confidence in the GENIUS BAR staff. By the time I made it to the front of the line (just to check in) the computers were back up and running. Now, I had already been in line for 20 minutes - just to get checked-in. A 18 year old kid had me type my name on the little mini laptop and then told me it would be 2 - 2 1/2 hours before I could get seen!! OMG!

OK, I love my Apple products just as much as the next person. I also know that this is after the holidays and everyone got new TOYS this year. My issue is a broken iPhone that needs to be replaced via a warranty. BUT still, if you are going to be THIS busy most of the year, can't you get a bigger store, more staff or SOMETHING??

I signed up for an appointment this morning, but the little disclaimer stated that there maybe a wait time depending on how busy the staff is.....so then what is the appointment for? Again, I love my iPhone, but this actually made me NOT want to buy more APPLE things....what if there is a problem and I have to go back???

As things really take off this week into the New Year I am reminded at how lucky I am to have some of the most wonderful friends. I have three close friends that each, in their own way, support and love me. It is because I have this love and friendship in so many different ways that I can continue to do my kreations day after day. They all bring such difference of opinions to each topic, yet somehow we always seem to be able to meet in the middle.

I thought I would start the New Year off right and give each of them their due.

First, there is Marsha from Pandula Arts Creations. I have known her the longest - over 17 years! She has a wonderful - amazing - talent for fiber weaving, but has dabbled in crocheting, knitting, pencil drawing, painting, pine needle basket weaving, and even beadweaving! Her patience and creativity always amaze me. She has mostly been self taught, which is amazing in itself! Here is one of my favorite creations of hers.

Then there is Kris from Aprons by MeMe. We not only found common ground in her love of crafting, but we also share the love of my Monster. I found Kris during a 'babysitter' crisis and it turned out to be a long and wonderful friendship. Her talent with a sewing machine amazes me. Her love of her 'babies' is something that I cherish. We have so much in common that we even started traveling together for craft shows and marketing each others items. Her support and friendship has been time enduring! Here is one of my favorites of hers.

And last but never least, Amber from Ambers Art Alley. She and I became friends over our love of our children. Her daughter was in my girl scout troop and we bonded almost instantly. Her constant friendship and support took me through many dark days when my hubby was deployed in Iraq. Our children share a special bond and act more like brothers and sister than friends. Her love of painting has blossomed over the past year, and is now more than just a 'side line', it is her passion. With a handed down easel and discounted paints she can make any scene into a work of art.... just think what is to come! Here is one of my favorites of her work (that I don't own, yet).

I have been beading like crazy and I have several new items to list, however, I haven't had a chance to photograph them yet! I would like to show off this necklace set that is still in my studio for my item of the day. This is a very simple and yet beautiful Shell Fan. The grey Swarovski Crystals just add that 'little bit extra' to make it a very elegant set.

Yesterday's Tantrum Thursday received a BUNCH of responses. I am always amazed at how personal issues really hit home with my followers. There were SO many people who agreed with me and said that technology in almost any form is OK for their kids, but that it is the parents responsibility to monitor that technology.

As this YEAR comes to a close I am just so shocked at all the things that have happened to my family, my business and even to me personally. It has truly been a year of changes!

But, before we go into the New Year I want to show off more of our Christmas. These are photos from Christmas eve at my Mom-in-laws/Brother-in-laws house. Between our family and theirs there are SIX - yes, I said SIX - children. One of the best presents received was my mom-n-law. Both families went in on an iPod Nano for her. Yes, if you watch the slideshow it is the little tiny item inside the BIG box!! It was so fun - and something she really wanted!

Tantrum Thursday 12/29/11

Oh my goodness, is it really 12/29/11? When did that happen? It is strange, but even with all the 'blogging' and 'posting' I do, still, loose track of time! I think that this time of the year it is a little harder for me to have a tantrum, I know that I did last week, and I am sure I can think of something for this week, but it seems to be just to wonderful of a season to complain!

That all being said, I would like to rant just a little. I know that kids do better without technology and that 'spoiling' our kids is not always the best idea, but..... I also love to give my kids what they want. I know that is spoiling, but you know what, I can spoil them if I want to - mothers PREROGATIVE!

My children know the value of a hand made item. They know how much love and time goes into making just about everything. They give and receive many handmade items through out the year. They are both crafters themselves! But I did enjoy my Monsters face when he opened his DSi (he had been asking for about 2 months for one - just like sissy's). And yes, it has been his obsession for the last couple of days, but you know what, that is OK. Not only will the 'novolty' of the DSi run out pretty fast, but I am also a responsible parent that will say - turn that thing off and go out side and play!

I seem to have been bombarded with people - bloggers and friends - that seem to think that technology and 'commercail' toys are BAD. I don't think they are bad, I just think they need to be limited. I DO buy handmade, I DO support other artist and I DO give my children handmade things throughout the entire year. My children are both on the honor roll at school, they are both VERY well mannered and yes, they have COMMERCIAL TOYS.

But this is just my Tantrum, what are your feelings??

I would like to show off a blanket I made for a friends new 'little girl'. I just love using variegated yarns, they are simple and easy! This is just a straight row granny square stitch, but it is very cute!

Oh my goodness, this has been a amazing holiday season!! I wasn't going to post anything until after the new year, but I just couldn't keep all these photos and good times to myself!! Today I am showing you some of the Christmas Chocolates that the kids and I made for our neighbors. We had so much fun making these! And the kids, they have fun passing them out!

If you can't tell what they all are, pretzels, marshmallow, White Oreo cookies and we also did peanuts (not shown). The marshmallows were something new this year, and they were very good! Some of our neighbors even came back to see if there were any leftovers!! Yep, we did good!! Tomorrow I'll show off photos from our party over at ApronsbyMeMe's house. Lots of food and good friends!

Now, I just have to show off this new artist I have found, ChristyBeckwithStudios. This talented lady has been creating all her life, she states that; "Christy began drawing when her mother gave her a note pad and a pen to keep her quiet in church. The attempt backfired. Well, Christmas is almost here! I have so many things to do still! Today will be spent making chocolate covered 'things' and some other cooking. I also have a baby blanket to finish, gifts to wrap and 'holiday drinks to drink'!!! Yesterday the kids, my mom-in-law and I went to St. Augustine to the Night of Lights. Usually we just drive around nicely lit neighborhoods and look at those lights, but this time we took the 'trolly' and I got to enjoy the lights too! It was soooo beautiful! The photos, of course, just don't do it justice.

Along with the trolley we were given a pair of 'snowflake' glasses that made most of the lights look like falling snowflakes - really cool - and also a great cup of hot cider and a cookie. Since we hadn't eaten yet we stopped in at South-A-Philly (or you can find them at FB-southaphilly). Let me tell you, although the 'hunger' was to great to remember to take a photo, the food AMAZING!!! All 4 of us had different sandwiches and fries - they were wonderful! The owners were GREAT too. I can't wait to eat there again the next time I go down to St. Augustine.

The first part of the day was spent with Aye and I doing all the last bit of shopping - both presents and groceries. I have to say that I really need to get things done sooner next year....most people were very nice.

It is odd, but the closer we get to Christmas the closer we get to a metal breakdown! Know I know that not everyone has 'issues' around the holiday, but for the most of us there are

meals to cook

presents to buy

presents to wrap

houses to clean

kids to entertain

family to entertain

lights to 'plug in'

and so much more.

For those of you who have everything under control, good for you - you are my inspiration. For the rest of us, I have to say - take a breath!!! I have had to go out several times over the last few days and with a rare exceptionn people are RUDE, MEAN and UNHAPPY! What happened? I thought that this was the time for the holidays. Time to FORGIVE. Time to be HAPPY and surrounded by friends and family. Instead it seems to be the time to FIGHT; CUT in line and generally be in a BAD MOOD!

I would like to remind everyone what the holiday is about - PEACE and HAPPINESS. No matter what your religion or beliefs this is supposed to be the one time of year that we all GET A LONG! So for all of you RUDE and MEAN and UNHAPPY people out there - EAT SOME CHOCOLATE or something..... just get into a better mood and stop being so SELF CENTERED - we all have

meals to cook

presents to buy

presents to wrap

houses to clean

OK, I am just about at the limit of crazy this month! Yesterday just about topped off my week so far! I was sitting in quiet and piece when I got a call from Aye that Monster had gotten hurt. I rushed down to the park (about a block away) and find him with a lump on his head and dirt covering his face! Yep, he tried to jump OVER a bench and didn't make it!

So as he missed, hit the back and then flipped over onto the ground. A quick trip to Solantic walk-in urgent care centers (who are starting to recognize us) and we found out that he has a moderate concussion!

OMG!

So then it was back home we went!

(hard to see, but across from the right side of HIS forehead and down across his eye)

Terrific Tuesday 12/20/11

What a Terrific day yesterday was! I spent the day with my kids! We had a great lunch and played at the park for about 2 hours and then there was the afternoon of haircuts! Yep, they both got 'cleaned up'!! I'll post those photos later!!!

Marvelous Monday 12/19/11

What a weekend it has been! First was my daughter, Aye's 12th birthday. We had it at the local Adventure Landing. The weather was just about as perfect as it could be. Aye and her friends had such a wonderful time! I have to say, it was one of the best birthday experiences we have had for Aye. There were 15 kids that were 'part of the party' and another couple that were there as well. Add in about 8 adults and boy did we have fun! Here are just a FEW photos from her party!

Then yesterday my Grandmother passed away. She was 87 and had lived a wonderful and full life. Up until a couple of days ago she was mobile and very active. My grandmother was the light of my life and would make EVERYONE smile that she came in contact with. I feel so blessed and proud to have known her.

Fabulous Friday 12/16/11

It is truly a Fabulous Friday! I have so much to do! It is one of my busiest times of the year! Yes, that is because I am making items for my studio, making custom orders for those who want to give my creations as presents. But there is also the 'little' detail that my 'little' girl turns 12 tomorrow! She is almost the size of an adult and has the TEEN attitude already down pat! But, it will only be her 12th birthday! I will show off photos of her party and gifts on Monday, but for today I would like to simply wish my little girl a wonderful birthday to come!

I am not sure I should do a tantrum this close to Christmas. I really would like everyone to remember that this is the season of joy, peace and happiness. Wonderful Wednesday 12/14/11

What a wonderful morning it is. For some reason (we wont explore it to much - it might jinx it) I woke up with a new lease on life! I am not sure if someone 'spiked' my morning bottle of water, or what happened, but I am here, I am happy and life just feels REALLY good today! Maybe it is because I actually got to bead yesterday! For several days I have been just TOO busy to bead and that always ways on me.

Do you find that your craft/art is what gets you by? Do you do the design or work out of necessity for your sanity as much as for the joy of it? I guess I do. I know that physically my hands get soar and swell sometimes if I don't bead, but I really didn't notice how much it effects me mentally. It is almost like my therapy! When I am at shows and people come in my booth and watch me bead (usually bead weaving) they say something like.... "How do you have the patience to do that"? I always reply; "I only have patience for my beads, not my kids, the beads keep me sane"! And most just don't understand how true that comment it!! Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE my kids and wouldn't change them for the world, but, the beads..... keep me calm!!

Here is what I was able to make yesterday! I just love it! It is one of those necklaces that you can wear with the clasp showing and it looks just as good as with the clasp in the back!! What do you think?

Terrific Tuesday 12/13/11

So, I told you I would show off our tree. It is small and is only a fraction of what we usually do for Christmas, but this year life seems sooooo busy! It is really hard to also have a child that has a birthday around Christmas time! I used to NOT decorate at all until after her party, but now that she is older she understands that Christmas doesn't take away from her birthday! Here is my tree and a few other things, if you look at it up close you'll see my Angry Bird Ornaments from AmbersArtAlley.

Here is a wreath that the kids and I did last year - and if you look close you can see the hand woven bow that Marsha at PandulaArtsCreations made last year.

And here are the beads that my Grandmother made us. She stranded each one by hand and they are about 10 feet+ long! I just love them! I can't put them on the tree this year because of the smaller (not very strong) tree we have, but we just HAD to have them out!

Oh, it is beginning to look a LOT like Christmas....

Marvelous Monday 12/12/11

What a week and weekend. The week had a broken dryer - FIXED; Internet that worked and then didn't - thanks to my MONSTER; over 80 cookies for Aye's Christmas party at school; Chocolate Chip Cookies for us; decorate for Christmas - including my Angry Birds ornaments; a broken TV - in our living room; a NEW TV - in our living room and then there were the things I did with the kids?!?! ha ha ha

Here are the cookies I did for Aye's party, they are called Rosettes. They are cookies that my mom and I have made since I was a kid!

They are wonderfully light and very fun to eat!!

Here are the Chocolate cookies I also made over the weekend... these were rushed and not GREAT to look at, but NO ONE complained about eating them!!
